St Andrew Novena Devotion
Chaplet available over at my shop! |
This is by far my all time favorite devotion after the rosary. The St. Andrew novena is traditionally recited beginning on the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle (November 30th) until Christmas Eve. It is a beautiful devotion for the season of Advent in preparation for the Birth of Christ at Christmas.
Pray the following prayer fifteen times
(either in a row or throughout the day):
“Hail and blessed by the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary at midnight in Bethlehem in piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires through the merits of our Savior Jesus Christ and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.”
I love the simplicity of this prayer and yet how powerful the request is. We are asking God at the very moment of His Incarnation to grant the desires we so earnestly seek. What better moment in history than to petition our King from! He could show no greater love than His birth in the stable and His death on the cross.
Let us make the most of this holy Advent season (which begins next Sunday!) to prepare our hearts for the Infant Jesus! Christmas will be here before we know it!
